Birthday Party

We decided to do a joint birthday party this year. Again, the plan was to have a swimming party in the backyard. And again(@#$%*&%$@#!!!) we were thwarted. The night before the party we had another record breaking storm. Are you kidding me?!? If Chicago ever has a drought, we will just plan a party and that will be that.
Luckily, our basement didn't flood this year, at least not outside of the laundry room. We sent all the kids to the basement to play. We also had some more toys upstairs and a little craft laid out on the dining room table. Everyone was having so much fun playing, that I had to drag them away at the end of the party for cupcakes and the pinata.
We got a fancy pull string pinata. I had no idea they had these things but it was perfect for young kids in an enclosed space. No bats to our drywall and/or Nate's groin.
Everyone was very polite at the candy scramble. There was even some candy that got left on the floor.
It turned out to be a super fun party, despite all my rain-related stressing. But if this happens again next year, heads will roll!
