Down with the O.P.C.

We love, love, love the Oak Park Conservatory. It's a totally hidden gem about 2min. from our house and we go a couple times a month. It's pretty small but has plants, flowers, cacti, a fish/turtle pond and some birds, including George, the talking parrot. It's a fun, safe contained space for kids to run around in and gives the illusion of being outside no matter what the weather is. We discovered it when Sophie was about Clara's age so Clara's been a bunch of times but she has always been worn. Today I took her and left her loose so she could touch things, "crawl" around and practice standing. She was a mess and kept trying to sneak leaves and rocks into her mouth, but she LOVED IT. Especially standing on the little bridge, watching the fish. I had to pry her fingers off to get her to let go.
Sophie was practicing balancing all by herself on the small wall by the cactus.
Normally the turtles are in the pond but this time one was just roaming around. Apparently, it was a female looking for a place to lay her eggs (Sophie can explain it all to you - don't worry). The girls were both fascinated by her. Sophie wanted to follow her around and Miss C. kept trying to pound on her back and touch her face. Eek!
This is a little girl who is very cooperative when her mom asks her to say "CHEEEEEEEESE" but is clearly getting sick of the constant demands.
