Clara at Three Months

Our C-Monkey is three months old. It's crazy! Here are some things that I'm sure you didn't know about her:

1. You smile and coo now. Your whole face lights up when you smile and your eyes totally sparkle. Your coos are the sweetest little noises and just melt my heart. And you've even giggled for us twice. I've tried several times to get this on video but you are completely fascinated by the camera and stop doing whatever you were doing anytime I get it out. Hence the weird angle on the video above.

2. YOU SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! When you were about two months old, you decided to start sleeping through the night. We did nothing to convince you to do that. It's awesome! You are a night owl though so you didn't go to sleep until around 11:00pm, would wake up at about 6:00 to nurse and then go immediately back to sleep for another hour or two. You've gradually shifted your bedtime earlier (somewhere around 9:00-10:00) and so some nights you get up once to eat, but you still sleep anywhere from 5-7 hours at a time. It's fabulous!

3. You still have to be swaddled to sleep. Although you are learning how to worm out of it and most mornings you wake up with at least one escaped arm.

4. You love your monkey chair. You get really worked up in this. It's like a really intense workout for you or a job you need to get done. But you definitely get that moving the animals turns the lights and sounds on and work really hard to make it happen.

5. You have settled into a very general routine: sleep great at night, sleep a lot in the morning and spend a lot of time awake in the afternoon and evening with naps spread out every two hours or so. It works out great because we tend to be out doing things in the morning that you usually just sleep through and then you and I get some alone time while Sophie naps. And while you are cute in the morning, you seem to be at your happiest later in the day.

6. You love fabric. You are always grabbing at your shirt, sucking on your blankets and munching on the sling. Your very favorite toy (and really the only one you "play" with so far) is your little bunny/hanky thing. You coo and growl and flip it around so that you can chew on it. It's adorable. But anytime any material gets near your head, it ends up in your mouth.

7. You love your sister. You smile for her, coo for her and one of your two giggles was for her. This is probably because she goes out of her way to entertain you - she talks to you, tickles you and sings songs to you ("Itsy Bitsy Spider", with actions, and "Rock-a-Bye Baby" are her favorites). She wants to hold you all the time, will lay practically ON you if you are on the floor, begs to take baths with you and she keeps an eye on you in the car ("Mommy, Baby Clara is asleep!")

8. You are an upright kind of girl. You are much happier being in our arms if you are vertical. You have pretty good head control now and like to use it to look around. You like the things that keep you upright, even a little - you love your swing and your rocker. Your Bumbo seat is new and so far is a hit but your aren't such a big fan of your playmat or other toys that have you flat on your back.

9. When you need to be cuddled, you snuggle right into my neck, curled up really high on my chest. For some reason that's really soothing to you. You also love to rest in the crook of your dad's arm while he bounces you on his leg (which he still does even though it's his bad leg because you like it so much).

10. Overall, you are a super easy, calm, mellow baby. Nothing really phases you. You are a good eater, a good sleeper and you don't fuss unless you are hungry or tired. It is so easy to be your mom! And a ton of fun too.
