1. You are super, amazingly, crazily articulate. You not only use complete sentences, but you can express complicated thoughts. For example, you got a little bonk one day. I told Sophie that you were tired and cranky and crying and you piped up, "No! I not cranky. I tired and crying." Seriously. What kind of two year old can communicate that? And you have funny little language quirks that are so cute and so you. You always tell me to "stam up" when you what me to "Mommy, carry you" or when you want to "snuggle you." You add the word "though" on to the end of all kinds of random sentences. And you are lazy with the phrase, "I don't know" - you've shortened it to simply, "I don't."
2. You know your mind and have opinions on things. When we ask you a question, you say the answer fast. And it's not super easy to distract you when my response doesn't go your way. If you ask for a cookie and I give you a cracker, you are not fooled and it's not easy to get you to let it go. You can throw a pretty decent tantrum. You don't do it much, but more often than you used to (hello, twos!). However you are usually very polite. You say please and thank you and excuse me and everything.
3. You worship your big sister. If Sophie is doing something, you mimic her and say "I'm doing ________ too!" When you wake up, the first thing you do is ask for Sophie. You can get pretty cranky when Sophie is not around. And no one can make you laugh the way she can. While you definitely love Sophie and LOVE playing with her (and you two can really play together now), you are very good at playing independently. You can entertain yourself for ages and ages. If you feel like playing downstairs, you'll head downstairs by yourself and play. If you feel like playing with your dollhouse, you go upstairs and do it. You don't need anyone to go with you or show how or what to play with. And it's a riot to watch you. You are the cutest with little figurines and stuffed animal - you take two of them and make them talk to each other: "Hi Frog, how are you? I'm good. How are you?"
4. You are learning to dress/undress yourself. You can easily do your crocs by yourself and your velcro sneakers with minimal help. You can put skirts on, although you have a hard time getting them over your diaper - hello, low-rider. If I put a shirt over your head, you can finish getting it on. And more than once I've found you with fairy wings or toy backpacks on your back. Twisted and tilted but on without help.
5. You love to take baths and it's a good thing because you also love to play outside, especially in the sandbox. You could happily play in our backyard for hours, running from playhouse to sandbox to chairs to wind chime and back again.
6. You are a great sleeper. Yeah! You sleep 11-12 hours a night and take a 2-3 hour nap. You are generally excited to go to bed because you get your binky in there. You love your binky and you only get it in bed or in the car. In fact, when you are upset, you ask to play in your crib or play in the car so that you can suck them. And it's easy to do your bedtime. You snuggle on our lap with a bink, your blanket and a "friend" (stuffed animal) for a couple stories. Then you say good night to your books (and occasionally blow them kisses) and we sing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and put you in bed with all that and a book. Then you lay in bed and read and chat and sing for a little while... or a long while (sometimes over an hour!)... and drift to sleep.
7. You are at that stage where you want to do things "all by myself". It's generally cute, if a little slower. Your newest all by yourself thing is climbing into your carseat in the car. You definitely are over me putting you in your seat.
8. You LOVE to be "nakedee!" Whenever we take your clothes off, you can't help but dance and brag about your nakedee status. You think it's really funny when Sophie is nakedee too. And since she knows that, she loves to be nakedee too so she can show off to you.
9. You are really good at sharing and taking turns. We make good use of the timer to make taking turns easier. If the timer goes off, you'll give her Sophie her turn with whatever it is you guys are fighting over without protest. And if Sophie has something you want (and let's face it, it's usually my phone you guys are fighting over), instead of throwing a fit or stealing it from her, you simply ask me to set the timer so that it can be your turn. That is a much better system for me!
10. You are very active. You love to jump and dance and run and climb. Your favorite song to dance to is "the dancing song" which means "Kingdom Dance" from the Tangled soundtrack. You love to stand on the arm of the couch in the office and say, "boom boom shaka shaka boom boom twist" and jump onto the couch. You like to balance on any ledge or step or anything and you say, "Look, Mom! I'm doing yoga." (You get this directly from Sophie). And you will climb and run and play on anything you can.
{I just reread this post. While everything in it is totally true, I don't think it adequately shows how fun Clara is. She is pure joy. She is always laughing and chatting and smiling and playing. She makes everything so fun and she makes me laugh a million times a day. She is a very happy kid and you can't help but be happy when you are around her. Especially when she does her cute little schruncy smile while she dances.}
