This is what Sophie wanted to wear today. She called the shirt her "birthday shirt". She felt so special. I told her she could pick anything to do since it was her day. She said she wanted to "see the fishes" so we were off to the Shedd.
Before we even got into the aquarium, we got distracted by this giant rock cave thing. Neither one of them wanted to leave until I reminded them that Nemo was waiting.
See that ugly, yellow thing to Sophie's left? Ginormic eel. It didn't bother them nearly as much as it bothered me. They were much more interested in the giant turtle swimming around.
We went to the Dora and Diego 4D movie. Clara wasn't sure what to make of it so she just sat on my lap. Sophie liked seeing the movie but she wasn't sure about the 4D effects - she thought the wind was neat but did not approve of the sprays of water.
Sophie's favorite part of the aquarium is the yellow submarine play area. As much as she liked seeing the dolphins and chameleons and penguins, I think this is the real reason she wanted to do this for her birthday.
Someone was very excited to open her presents.
She was so sweet and tried very hard to get Clara to help her open each gift. Clara wasn't totally on board but Sophie wanted so badly to share the fun with her. And after every gift, she said, "take a picture". And posed.
Her favorite gift was her Rapunzel wig (shocking!).
She had big plans for it.
This picture instantly made me see her grown up - it was like the future passed in front of my eyes. We are going to be in big trouble when she is in high school.
Clara had to try it on too.
We made a brand new 4 year old very happy, I think.
